Our History: From local dairy to international goat cheese producer

Founded in 1982 in Halen, Belgium

Capra was founded in 1982 in the industrial zone of Halen, with a clear mission: to process goat’s milk into high-quality goat cheese. From the beginning, we managed the complete production chain, from collecting milk from local farmers to producing pasteurised curd.

Strategic growth and expansion

Our development has been marked by steady growth and strategic expansion:

2006 – Merger with Midgard cheese dairy

Merger with Midgard cheese dairy in Werchter and introduction of the Merlin range.

2007 – Production site expansion

Major production site expansion to 8,000 m² to meet growing market demand.

2008 – Acquisition of Amalthea

Start of bacon-wrapped goat cheese production.

2009 – Integration into Eurial and Agrial

Integration into Eurial, part of the Agrial cooperative group, strengthening international ambitions. Since then, Capra has grown into one of the leading goat cheese producers in Belgium and a recognized player in the European goat dairy sector. Today, we process millions of litres of goat’s milk annually, sourced from an extensive network of farmers in Belgium and the Netherlands.
